June 2013 updates

HI!!!

It has been a little while since I've posted anything.

Dita is doing wonderfully.  She's a young dog who still needs to mature and learn more of the rules of the house, but she is such a joy.

We've had a few incidences which were clearly a result of separation anxiety.  The pictures tell the story.
OH MY....

THIS WAS A BRAND NEW JAR OF NATURAL PB

POOP, PEE, AND HONEY

THE CRATE SHE ESCAPED FROM NOW HAS ZIP TIES TO HOLD IT TOGETHER

THE TOY BOX GAVE HER SOME FUN AS WELL

MORE PEE AND POOP

AND THE NEXT DAY, SHE SOMEHOW WAS ABLE TO SCRATCH OPEN THE BAG OF KIBBLE ON THE CHAIR (THE CRATE WAS OBVIOUSLY TOO CLOSE - A MOMMY ERROR! - DUE TO WET CARPET IN THE LIVING ROOM)

Her injured foot has healed, although a bony callus grew over the injury and therefore her foot still appears lumpy.  She doesn't appear to be bothered by it, and there's nothing short of cosmetic surgery that can be done to improve that.

She still hasn't had her heat yet. I'm waiting to spay her until after she has her next, not knowing when that could be - any time now! I'm actually quite pleased about the situation, in order to avoid removing those beneficial hormones before she has finished growing. Which, she most likely has by now at about 19 months of age.

Delta gave me a scare back in May when she collapsed on the ground one Friday morning prior to my leaving for work.  I honest to God thought she was dead, and even gave her 2 puffs into her snout.  She shook her head, and after a couple of minutes, stood up, shook herself off and everything was okie-dokie.  A very expensive day at the vet later confirmed that her heart was okay.  We don't know what happened, and all we can do is hope that it doesn't happen again.

We've had a couple of playdates with Barklee (9 month old Bernese Mountain Dog), who lives next door, and also a wonderful visit on Father's Day with our friend Mary Ellen, her singing Boston Terrier Walter, and her sweet as sugar Boxer, Cookie. Cookie is quite famous in the Boxer Rescue world - she originated from Manitoba and entered rescue as a result of a horrifying trauma - her previous owner hit her with his car in their driveway, and rather than seek immediate vet care, tied her up in the back yard and waited for her to die.  When she didn't, she was finally rescued.  She lost both eyes and had brain surgery, but today is a very happy and typical Boxer who loves to play with others, explore her surroundings and give lots of slurpy tongue bathings!

BARKLEE AND DITA LOVE TO RUN!

LOVELY COOKIE!

COOKIE, DITA AND WALTER

WALTER IS A TUGGING MACHINE AT 10 YEARS OF AGE. DITA LOVED IT!

BARKLEE WISHES SHE COULD COME PLAY WITH COOKIE AND WALTER TOO (ALTHOUGH SHE SEEMED TO BE A LITTLE BE AFRAID OF COOKIE!)
UNTIL NEXT TIME!
